The Best of Larry Norman

Description

The Best of Larry Norman (later also known as Confiscated) is a compilation album by the American singer and songwriter Larry Norman, independently released on Royal Music in 1990. Distributed in Europe under licence by Word Records. Featuring songs from the Royal Music albums Stop This Flight, Down Under (But Not Out) and Rehearsal 4 Reality. In addition the compilation features one track (a duet featuring Larry Norman) from Q.Stone’s self-titled 1988-album, released on Royal Music in 1988.

Confiscated: The Best Of Larry Norman, Solid Rock Records 2007

This album is in fact a re-release of a set of tracks originally released, without Larry’s permission, by a European company under the misleading title ‘The Best Of Larry Norman’. Though not really his best it does contain some gems ranging from fairly heavy rock to his more contemplative ballads. Some of these tracks are about his radical faith, others are pure love songs like the catchy rock and roll number «I’m Going To Write A Song About You For The Radio». These two themes are combined with the classic «Woman Of God» (based on that famed passage in Proverbs 31). I love the sounds on the introduction of «Messiah» even though I’m not sure where this stirring apocalyptic imagery is going. Listening to these songs just confirms that Larry Norman is a giant of Christian rock who deserves his reputation amongst the cognoscente. [Dancin’ Dave Derbyshire, Cross Rhythms, November 2007]
