A Better Day

Description

A Better Day is the sophomore album by the American folk/pop duo Steve and Maria (Gardner), released on FourMost in 1972. (Re-issued by Word featuring new cover artwork.) The album was produced by Sherman Williams. Arranged and conducted by Larry Mayfield.

If you get just one Steve & Maria album make it this one. A Better Day is a surprisingly outing, a good half the songs giving you the guy/gal folk-pop duo of your dreams. They still have their share of filler like «People Got To Be Free» and «I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing», but originals like «Wonder Song», «A Different Tomorrow», «War Song» and the title tune are all A-1 hip tracks, with electric guitar, organ and harpsichord providing subtle flower power touches. On the whole I’d say rather groovy. [Ken Scott, The Archivist]
