Invitation to Eavesdrop

Description

Invitation to Eavesdrop is the debut full-length album by the American singer and songwriter Shaun Groves, released on Rocketown Records in July 2001, manufactured and distributed by Word Music Group. Also manufactured and distributed by Epic, a division of Sony Music. The album was recorded by Jim Dineen at The Bennett House and Screaming Baby in Franklin and at Rack ‘n Roll and Media Mix Studio in Nashville, Tennessee; with Monroe Jones producing. Mixed by Jim Dineen, except tracks 7, 8, and 10 mixed by Jim Dineen. Mixed at Charlie Peacock Productions in Nashville and at The Castle in Franklin. Assisted by Brian Boyd and Steve Short. All songs written by Shaun Groves.

This debut album from the latest artist to be signed by Rocketown (Michael W Smith) has enough variety for even the most wide-ranging taste; from the mournful but appropriately upbeat ballad about death, «Last Notes», to the acoustic/rock thrash mix of «Should I Tell Them» and «Move Me». The US Christian radio turntable hit «Welcome Home» is wonderful, the lyrics a quirky antidote to home decorating, the focus on changing hearts rather than changing rooms! The whole album has good, well balanced musical arrangements. The lyrics, clearly centred in honest worship but with plenty to make one pause for reflection. Atmospheric and vulnerable.
